DUBAI RETIREMENT PROGRAMME

On 02 September 2020, a retirement programme has been introduced by Dubai for its resident expatriates and foreigners over the age of 55. The initiative was taken by Dubai Government, being led by Dubai Tourism in partnership with the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA-Dubai). This programme has been named “Retire in Dubai” and became a unique one in the region.

This initiative will attract the most diverse and well-accomplished retirees to finally relax and retire in the place of their dreams. Initially, the programme will focus on UAE residents who have reached 55 years of age, working in Dubai and have the financial means to retire with ease.

In order to qualify for the Retire in Dubai UAE visa scheme, one must fulfill one among the below three financial requirements:

  1. AED 20,000 (approx. USD 5,500) monthly income
  2. AED 1 million (approx. USD 275,000) savings
  3. AED 2 million (approx. USD 550,000) property

The retirement in Dubai residency provides its applicants with a five-year renewable residence visa which also allows to sponsor applicants’ families like spouse and children.

This programme will also yield a positive result towards the economy of the UAE, especially Dubai. As the region has always been thinking of easier ways to improve the lives of expats here in the country, especially those who have spent a significant portion of their lives will now feel more at home. This retirement introduction will boost their morale to work better for their lives and families.
